TUESDAY: This week our Tuesday Night Film Series takes us golfing.

This week the Strand is helping highlight the accomplishments of General George S. Patton. David Weakly and his group WWII: SHELBY COUNTY REMEMBERS is hosting several events centering on the life of Gen. Patton. The Strand is honored to present two events.
WEDNESDAY: On Wednesday April 10 we will show the award winning film
PATTON (1970). This epic movie stars George C. Scott as General Patton. The opening sequence is tremendous and has a huge impact on the big screen. The haunting trumpet calls and that iconic march will fill the Strand. The movie starts at 7pm and tickets are available at the door.

THURSDAY: We present
AN EVENING WITH PATTON: FEATURING DENNY HAIR. Denny is author of "Patton Hidden in Plain Sight" a six volume series. He is one of the world’s foremost experts on General Patton. As such, he has been a guest lecturer on the life and times of General Patton at hundreds of events and locations, including veteran reunions, military history museums, and lectures in the States as well as abroad. He was the keynote speaker as a guest of the United States Army to commemorate the 64th anniversary of General Patton’s death in Heidelberg, Germany, at the hospital where Patton died. He will be on the Strand's stage as Gen. Patton. This free event starts at 7pm.

SATURDAY:
JOHNNY CASH & NEIL DIAMOND: A TRIBUTE. On Saturday April 12 talented Chicago artist DOUG ALLEN NASH brings his talent to the Strand's stage. The evening will be filled with music of these two great singers. Tickets are available online, at the door, or locally at Shelbyville Paint. The concert starts at 7:30pm.

Wayne Baxter attended our Buddy Holly Concert. He saw Buddy Holly live! It was a concert at the Indiana Theatre in downtown Indianapolis on October 9, 1958. Wow!!!

We are very proud of Strand supporter
DR. Kristiaan Rawlings. This week he successfully defended his doctoral thesis titled
"Applying the Building Thinking Classrooms Approach to English Language Arts Curriculum." He now holds a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction. Congratulations Dr. Rawlings!

This weekend we are dark due to the NCAA Men's Final Four. The Strand is all about the arts, but we are sports fans too. Just like most in Indiana, several of our volunteers have brackets. Some are still alive and others have long since dropped out. We will know the winner soon, and it won't be an Indiana school...
