Make a mess, play games, grab some food, and sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge! This summer, the Shelby County Public Library is challenging patrons to read 10 hours for children or 10 books for adults from June 2 through July 12. The youth department rewards young readers with prizes at each hour mark and, for those students who complete all 10 hours, hosts a twilight swim on July 14 at the Meridian Park Family Aquatic Center. Adult patrons are entered for raffles and prizes along with a free book at completion. Signups for the Summer Reading Challenge can be completed online or at either of our locations beginning with our June 2 (Shelbyville) and June 3 (Morristown) kickoff parties.
Patrons who attend the Mess Fest and Messtival and sign up for Summer Reading on June 2 and June 3 will be entered to win a four-pack of general admission tickets to Kings Island. For the youth challenge in Morristown, everyone who completes 10 hours of reading will also be eligible for a raffle prize of a ride with the library in the "Little Blue Truck" during the Derby Days parade in Morristown on July 26.
Both branches of the library are hosting a series of upcoming events and activities related to its Summer Reading program throughout June and July.
Come ready to unleash your creativity and fun! Wear your absolute WORST clothes for the exciting kickoff of our summer reading events. We have a lineup of messy games and activities that you won’t want to miss!
